Requirements – this trekking does not require any special physical preparation. But the tourist should be prepared to field conditions and weather adversity.

Itinerary: TashkentBukharaSamarkand – Fann Mountains – Dushanbe (or other side : Dushanbe – Fann Mountains – TashkentBukharaSamarkandTashkent).
Tour description: Fann mountains across the lakes with crystal clear waters. Fann Mountain is a unique part of Pamir-Alay Mountains. It is the land of crystal lakes, of ancient legends and of high peaks which go far up to the sky. This region, with its picturesque valleys, magnificent lakes and lakes Kulikalon Alautdin fascinate you with its beauty. Glaciesr the fabulously beautiful, the highest peaks Tchimtarga, Tchapdara, Ganza, Kaznok - in fact, you can fall in love with this place and end of your trekking journeys you will say loudly: "I'll leave my heart here ". After or before hiking in the mountains, you can spend a several days along the ancient cities of Samarkand and Bukhara and enjoy its exotic East Bazaars and unique architectural monuments.

Tour program:

Optional program with arriving to Tashkent & departure from Dushanbe:

Day 1. Tashkent - Bukhara. Arrival in Tashkent. Meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Rest. Short sightseeing program of the capital of Uzbekistan. Transfer to the railway station. Night train to Bukhara.

Day 2. Bukhara. Early arrival to Bukhara (at 6:30 AM). Accommodation. Breakfast at hotel. Full day sightseeing program of city. Visit Samanids Mausoleum ( IX – XII cc. ), Chashma Ayub Mausoleum (Job's well. XII-XVI cc.), Bolo Khauz mosque, Ark – ancient fortress (VI-VII cc.), Poi-Kalan complex (XII-XVI cc.), Commercial domes of XVI century, Magoki Attori mosque and ensemble of Labi Haouz. Overnight.

Day 3. BukharaSamarkand. Morning train to Samarkand and arriving at 11:30. Accommodation at hotel. Lunch and sightseeing program of the city Samarkand - the pearl of the world. Visit to the heart of SamarkandRegistan Complex (XIV-XVI c.) with its 3 famous Madrassah: Sherdor, Ulugbek and Tilla-Kori. Visit to Guri-Emir Mausoleum (place where a great king Tamerlan is buried), Rukhabad necropolis (XV c.). Overnight.

Day 4. SamarkandTashkent. Continue of visit of Samarkand. Discovery of the Ensemble of Shakhi-Zinda Mausoleums, Oriental Bazaar, Bibi-Khanum cathedral mosque (XV c.). Ulugbek’s Observatory (XV c.), Afrosiab museum. Train to Tashkent at 5:00 PM and arriving at 8:42 PM. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Overnight.

Day 5. Tashkent – Khujend – Usturafshan – Pendjikent. Early transfer to the Tajik/Uzbek border (90km, about 1 hrs 20 min). Cross the boundaries. Meet with Tajik driver and transfer to Pendjikent city (250 km) via Shakhristan Pass (3143 m). Arrival to Pendjikent and accommodation at Guest house. Overnight.

Day 6. Pendjikent – Fann Monuntains (75 km) - Trekking. Early breakfast at hotel and transfer to Fann Mountains. 3 hours of the road takes you to the heart of the Fann Mountains, to the camp of alpinists “Artuch”, where you start trekking trough the beautiful mountains. After preparation for the trekking and picnicking walking up to Kulikalon Lakes through juniper forests and admire the fascinating panorama of unique Kulikalon wall with its clouded peaks of more than 4500m (Adamtash, Rudaki, and Mirali) and a crystal-clear emerald-blue water of Kulikalon Lakes (total 14 lakes) with plenty of fish in it. Camping on the bank of the Bibidjanat Lake, (2900m). (10 kms; 5 hrs; +700m).

Day 7. This day we go up to the Alautdin pass (3860m) from where an impressive view of Chapdara peak (5197 m) and the valley of Chapdara river open up and descent to the Alautdin lakes. Camping on the bank of the lake (2900m). (6 km / 6hrs / +900; - 950m). Far down you can see Alautdin Lake with its amazing color changing from light-blue to bright ultramarine.

Day 8. Day-trekking to the Mutnoje Lake (8 km, 4-5 hrs, + 800m). During a day we see attractive panoramas of Kaznok (4200m), Zamok (5070m), Energiya (5105m) and Chimtarga (5489m) peaks. Sever conditions of alpine mountain zone, hanging glaciers and steep moraines swells are available to observe in this region. On the way you can see rare birches and a small lake named for its round shape as a "Piala lake" (“piala” is a traditional uzbek cup in a form of a circle to drink a tea), gigantic steps of glacier and polished rocks. Eagles are soaring around you high in the sky.

Day 9. Going up to Laudan Pass (3630m) and then getting down to Kulikalon Lakes 12km walking; +750m;4,5hrs; -850m;2hrs) - starts after short descent from Alautdin lake to an old obstruction of the Allo Lake. From Laudan pass (3600m) we can see almost the entire panorama of Kulikalon lakes and western part of Kulikalon wall. The wide pass brings you to the lakes. And there is a camp on the bank of Big Kulikalon Lake (2800m). All day long you see unforgettable panoramas of beautiful mountains such as the Valley of Pasrud River, eastern slopes of Chapdara peak, far tops of Yagnob River, the highest range of Chimtarga peak, and Peak Sarytash (4650m) as well.

Day 10. Trekking from the Kulikalon Lake to Artuch village. Climbing up to Chukurak Pass (3100 m) is quite easy and leads all the way through the pasturages. Beautiful views from the Pass to the mountains and lakes. Descent from the pass to the Chukuirak Lakes. Down to the lakes is possible to stop for meeting local herders and try some local yoghurt, bread and tea. Then descent to the route, where the car will pick you up and transfer to the Artuch village. Accommodations at home stay. (9 km, +350 m, 3 hrs, -900 m, 3 hrs).

Day 11. Artuch village – Ayni town – Dushanbe (275 km). Route to Dushanbe – the capital of Tajikistan via Anzob Pass (3372 m). Arrival and accommodation at hotel. Panoramic tour of the capital of Tajikistan. Overnight.

Day 12. Departure from Dushanbe.

Optional program with arriving to Dushanbe & departure from Tashkent:

Day 1. Dushanbe. Arrival to Dushanbe. Meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Rest. Short sightseeing program of the capital of Tajikistan. Overnight.

Day 2. Dushanbe – Fann Mountains (275 km, 6-7 h). Early breakfast at hotel. Transfer via Anzob Pass (3372 m) to the alpinists camp base “Vertical” at 2500 m, the heart of the Fann Mountains, where you start trekking trough the beautiful mountains. Arrival approximately at 5 PM. Meet with the trekking team (mountain guide and drovers with their donkeys, which will brings your luggage. Small and easy trekking to the Aladdin Lakes, where our cook will meet you warmly with welcome tea. (+200 m, 45 min). Night in the tents.

Day 3. Day-trekking to the Mutnoje Lake (8 km, 4-5 hrs, + /- 900m). During a day we see attractive panoramas of Kaznok (4200m), Zamok (5070m), Energiya (5105m) and Chimtarga (5489m) peaks. Sever conditions of alpine mountain zone, hanging glaciers and steep moraines swells are available to observe in this region. Return to the camp. In our return our team will established the camp near the springs on the foot of Laudan Peak.

Day 4. Beautiful views from the Pass to the mountains and lakes. Descent from the pass to the Chukuirak Lakes. Down to the lakes is possible to stop for meeting local herders and try some local yoghurt, bread and tea. Camp at 2400 m. (8 km, +400 m, -700 m, 5-6 hrs).

Day 6. Trekking from the Chukurak Lakes to Guytan Pass (2640 m). Climbing up to Guytan by quite easy and leads all the way through the juniper forest. Beautiful views from the Pass to the mountains and to the valley Guytan river and to the village the same name. Picnic lunch in the Guytan village. Continue of descend to the Zimtut village, where our car will meet us and transfer to Pendjikent city. Accommodations at home stay.
Day 7. Pendjikent – Usturafshan – Khujend - Tashkent. Early transfer to Khujend city via Pendjikent and Shakhristan Pass (3143 m). Arrival to Khujend and then to the Tajik-Uzbek border “Aybek” (250 km). Meet by Uzbek guide and driver, transfer to Tashkent (90km).. Arrival to Tashkent and accommodation at hotel. Overnight.

Day 8. TashkentBukhara. Morning train to Bukhara. Arrival and accommodation at hotel. Short sightseeing program of old part of Bukhara. Lyabi-Hauz complex (XVI-XVII cc.), Magoki Attori mosque and Commercial domes of XVI century and Poi-Kalan complex (XII-XVI cc.). Overnight.

Day 9. BukharaSamarkand. Sightseeing in Bukhara: Visit Samanids Mausoleum ( IX – XII cc. ), Chashma Ayub Mausoleum (Job's well. XII-XVI cc.), Bolo Khauz mosque, Ark – ancient fortress (VI-VII cc.). Lunch. Transfer to Samarkand (300 km, 4 hrs). Arrival and accommodation. Overnight.

Day 10. Samarkand. Sightseeing program in Samarkand: Visit to the heart of SamarkandRegistan Complex (XIV-XVI c.) with its 3 famous Madrassah: Sherdor, Ulugbek and Tilla-Kori. Visit to Guri-Emir Mausoleum (place where a great king Tamerlan is buried), Rukhabad necropolis (XV c.), Bibi-Khanum cathedral mosque (XV c.), Ulugbek’s Observatory (XV c.), the Ensemble of Shakhi-Zinda Mausoleums, and East Bazaar.

Day 11. SamarkandTashkent. After breakfast transfer to Tashkent (330 km, 4-5 hrs). Sightseeing program of Tashkent

Day 12. Departure from Tashkent.

Useful info.

Necessary dress equipment and stuff:

  • Lightweight trekking boots. The best to walk in them before arriving to Fanns Mountains to avoid blisters.
  • Trekking trousers; (useful higher up in this mountains in the morning and night),
  • 1 pair of loose fitting long shorts,
  • 2 cotton T-shirts, (if you want you can buy its here, in the bazaars the first day).
  • 1 lightweight long sleeved-shirt (it is suitable to avoid sun burn),
  • A sunhat (ensure it has wide brim to cover the face and neck).
  • Trekking waterproof rain cape;
  • Windbreaker;
  • Socks (2-3 pairs of cotton and 1 pairs of woolen),
  • Swimming suit (possible to swimming on the some altitude lakes),
  • Canteen (water bottle), sunscreen and sunglasses,
  • Personal toiletries,
  • Personal medical supplies;
  • Passport.

Attention:

  • Tourists must have no medical contraindications for the trekking and hiking.
  • In case of bad weather a tour guide has a right to change the route in a safety purpose.
